This is a wonderful story. A combination of bitter and sweet. The ability for the most jaded person to change and the redemption of a feared creature. It's such an interesting angle to take with dragons. I hope you put your short pieces in a collection at some point. You have some beauties.
Lyndsey, thank you! I do love dragons, and I feel they're much maligned! I'm actually putting together a little volume of stories about faeries at the moment - just a small ebook to test the waters of self-publishing. I'm the least tech-savvy person there is, and the whole process seems very intimidating, but I'm hoping to figure it out. I haven't actually got an audience, so it'll be more for practical research - and hopefully for fun!
They are! I’m glad to hear that. The learning process takes a bit, but once you go through the process once, it’s clear for your next. Maybe give Draft2Digital a look. They have simplified much of the process. I can’t wait to see what you put together!
I LOVE THIS!!! Such a clever take on dragons. Matty’s transformation from a harvester to a protector reflects the human capacity for change, even in the face of greed and violence. And you've used the word scales quite brilliantly.
Such an interesting take on dragons and dragon hunters. And the way you made the characters real in so few words takes talent. Glad the dragon and her babies stand a chance!
Fascinating!!! Thank you for writing!!! ❤️
Magnificent!
Thank you so much, Liz!
Wow. Just …. Wow!!! You write so brilliantly well.
Thank you, Leanne, and thank you for the restack. You're a champion at championing others, and very much appreciated!
You’re welcome and thank you!

Thank you so much! I think I had a lot to say with this one, and I squished it into 2k words (for the submission), so I'm glad it still worked!

Thank you so much for this encouraging comment, and the restack!
